The cyrillic alphabet and the concept of music (музыка) muzyka in Russian Music Education are the matters I will investigate today, as I begin my journey to Novgorod State University in Veliky Novgorod, in the northwestern area of Russia. On behalf of the Hayes School of Music and Appalachian State University, I am honored to spend the next two weeks with Russian music students and teachers in hopes of establishing faculty and student music exchanges with our Russian Music Education partners at NovSU.
I hope to post messages, photos and videos so that I can share what I see and experience with all my friends and colleagues. Please feel free to comment on my posts, so that I know that my messages are "getting through"!

Hi Bo, I haven't yet experienced any music or arts, other than the gorgeous attention to public parks, but I'll be taking some architectural and musical cultural excursions starting tomorrow. Thanks for being part of my (long, strange) trip.
